It’s Valentines Day, and our birthday!
We’re celebrating CAKE turning FOUR with an eye on the Chinese Lunisolar Calendar.
The Year of the Snake is serving up a slew of positive possibilities for 2025. The snake brings with it wisdom, transformation, calmness and creativity. In fact it’s been said that the Year of the Snake could be life-changing for many of us. Paired with the wood element, this year also carries themes of strength, stability, and growth. Together, they bring a powerful message of adaptability and resilience—encouraging us to embrace change and keep moving forward.
We were asked in an interview recently what kind of work we want to pursue in 2025 and it really stumped us. Should we focus on fashion or storytelling? Animation and CGI-heavy boards? Smiley commercials with kids and animals? Or should we pour all our energy into projects with important social or environmental messages—issues close to our hearts?
The truth is, we can’t choose just one. Reflecting on the past year, we’ve done it all and wouldn’t have turned away any of those opportunities. We deeply, truly love what we do, in any genre. At Cake, that love is reflected in the kaleidoscope of work we’ve produced over the last 12 months—spanning traditional advertising, branded content, documentary filmmaking, and creative consultancy.
We love the film-making process and this year, embracing the energy of the Wood Snake, it’s about continuing to be organic and fluid. As well as physically plotting beautiful sunset shots in the bush, we’ve enjoyed using more AI to enhance our creative offering, from ideation through to the final films. It’s this balance that brings us stability and our commitment to excellence that keeps us agile—always pushing to find new and better ways to create cool, impactful work.
Here’s to a prosperous 2025 and a transformative year of the Wood Snake.
Together, let’s make this a year of growth, resilience, and, most importantly, great stories.
