The brief was to produce a series of lifestyle ads for Coppertone sun cream for the American market coming out of a covid cautious winter and embracing all the joy and adventure that the sun brings. It was shot between Cape Town and Johannesburg and features some of our most accomplished extreme sports people.

The project required a multitude of rigs and out-the-box thinking with the camera gear, Rob’s specialty. It was shot on the Arri Mini, a  Canon1DXmkiii, DJI drones, Go-Pros and our very own Freely Wave for the super high-speed awesomeness. 

02. PLAY - COPPERTONE SPORT MINERAL

 

The Freefly Wave is one of our recent additions to Cake’s in-house complement of awesome toys. It’s currently the most efficient of all super-high-speed cameras. It’s small, light and insanely fast and at a fraction of the cost of traditional high speed technology, it’s revolutionary for our industry.

We are incredibly excited to be the first production company in SA to have this exceptional piece of equipment and the first to use it on this beautiful campaign. 

 

The campaign features the entire range of Coppertone sun creams and makes up a total of 20 individual assets, featuring almost all of Rob’s favourite things;  some of South Africa’s best athletes, some adorable kids, babies and dogs. If cars needed sun protection he would have had his full package of bliss.
