With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an endless quest to learn new things, specialist cinematographer Rob Malpage consistently investigates and engages with new technology. Sometimes spending weeks immersed in experimenting and learning new methods, he prides himself on keeping ahead of the curve.

The Bolt Cinebot is a magnificent piece of robotic technology and with Rob wanting to really explore how to use and stretch this very cool tool, he conceptualised a glorious visual feast of ultra slow motion liquids paired with motion control technology. The opportunity to work on passion projects and choose your subject and story is a rare gift. Rob partnered with the awesome guys at THIRST bespoke bar services to create the very special special cocktails in this series of films.
02. PLAY - HIBISCUS FIZZ
On set Rob was in his element, surrounded by exceptionally skilled technicians and the ultimate complement of gear including the incredible Paul Thompson, the Phantom Flex, and the Bolt Cinebot he had all the creative freedom imaginable, a kid in a candy store. Then came the exhilarating task of putting it all together.
Working with long time friend & collaborator, writer Damien Armstrong, Rob created a fitting narrative for the films, voiced by London based artiste, Saskia Van Ryneveld. Digital Union’s online specialist Rodney Fraser brought the world alive inside the frame.
